What the site loads
Pages, photos and fonts all come from safarwalks.com. The fonts are hosted here too, so no request goes to Google Fonts.
A video loads only when you press play. The player then comes from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced address, youtube-nocookie.com, and from that point YouTube’s own privacy policy covers the video.
The contact page also loads Cloudflare Turnstile, a check that a message comes from a person and not a bot. It loads on that page only.
Cloudflare also adds its Web Analytics script to our pages. It is explained below.
Links to YouTube, Google Maps and official ticket sites take you to those sites. Nothing from them loads until you click.
Analytics and cookies
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see which pages get read and how fast they load, so we know what to make more of. It is a small script that Cloudflare adds to our pages. Our own code has no other analytics, advertising or tracking scripts, and it sets no cookies of its own.
Cloudflare says this tool does not use cookies, localStorage or similar browser storage, does not “fingerprint” visitors from their IP address, browser or other details, and does not track individual visitors across other sites. It reads page timing from your browser and records things like the page, the site that sent you, your country, and your device type, browser and operating system. Cloudflare says it discards your IP address at the nearest data center for this and does not store it in its core databases or logs. We look at the figures in Cloudflare’s dashboard. Details are inCloudflare’s documentationand itsprivacy policy.
Walk pages remember one choice in your browser’s local storage: whether you hid the small globe in the corner. It stays on your device.
Hosting and logs
The site runs on Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes request logs to serve and protect it, and we use those logs to find and fix problems. They record technical details of each request, such as the page asked for and the time.
The contact form
When you send a message, a small Cloudflare service checks it with Turnstile and forwards it to our inbox by email, with your address set as the reply address so we can answer. The site itself stores nothing you send: there is no database behind it. We use your name, address and message only to reply to you. Your message then sits in our inbox like any other email.
Asking us to delete something
To have your messages deleted, write to us through the contact form, choose General and tell us the address you wrote from. We’ll delete them from our inbox and reply when it’s done.
